Reports from the pro-regime newspaper the Fiji Sun say the west of Fiji is in the grip of Bainimarama fever.
The prime minister Rear Admiral Frank Bainimarama has started touring Fiji in his blue bus collecting members for his party Fiji First.
The paper reports he collected five thousand signatures for registration in less than eight hours.
Under the Political Parties Decree five thousand signatures are required across all four divisions of Fiji.
The reports say thousands gathered at each of the stops from Rakiraki to Lautoka and the bus made unscheduled stops as people were eager to sign up.
Political parties have accused Rear Admiral Bainimarama of breaching his own decree for campaigning before his party has been registered.
