Sport: Ipswich confident of countering PNG Hunters' flair

11:47 am on 5 April 2014

The Ipswich Jets believe they have the code to crack the PNG Hunters' unbeaten start away from home in the Queensland Cup rugby league competition.

The Hunters are fourth in the competition standings after five rounds, one point clear of the Jets, and last week recovered from a 12 point deficit to draw 20-20 at the Easts Tigers.

Ipswich co-coach Ben Walker is no stranger to PNG, having helped prepare the Kumuls team in the 2010 Four Nations.

He's done his homework and senses a chink in the armour.

"To be honest they play into our hands a little bit with the way they play and it will suit our style. They're very unpredictable and that the toughest part about the way they play is their unpredictability but the way they do play suits our style a little bit too. We're really excited about the game - I know they boys are as well - and we know that there will be a good crowd PNG are pulling plenty of support so it should be a terrific afternoon."

Meanwhile for those who can't access the TV feed, the University of Southern Queensland's Phoenix Radio station will be calling the game, which can be accessed via a computer or smart phone.
