Sport: Samoa's Carruthers makes last 16 in Peru

Samoan tennis player Steffi Carruthers has been knocked out in the second round of a US$10,000 tournament in Lima, Peru.

The 20 year old was beaten 3-6 6-3 3-6 by Argentina's Maria Agustina De Carli in the round of 16.

It's the fourth straight week Carruthers has made it to the last 16, including three straight in Peru.

Along with partner Marika Akkerman of Canada, Carruthers also made it through to the doubles quarter finals before losing in straight sets to opponents from Argentina and Bolivia.
