Digicel Group has confirmed it has entered into a conditional sale agreement to purchase Telecom New Zealand's 60% shareholding in Telecom Cook Islands Limited, 'TCIL'.
Subject to the satisfactory conclusion of the conditions of sale before 31st May 2014, Digicel will acquire Telecom New Zealand's interest in the incumbent telecommunications provider in the Cook Islands.
The other 40% of TCIL is owned by the Government of the Cook Islands.
In statement, Digicel's Group CEO, Colm Delves, says they hope to bring the same standard of service they have provided in their other six Pacific Island markets to the people of the Cook Islands and look forward to partnering with the Government of the Cook Islands in this expansion.
