Minimum wage to be extended to American Samoa to domestic workers

The US Department of Labor says that its newly established office in American Samoa is educating the community that live-in domestic workers are entitled to the federal minimum wage which applies to all workers in the territory.

The department set up two months ago in Pago Pago the investigative office of its Wage and Hour Division under an agreement with the territorial government.

In a newly released report, the department says it is working with the NGO community which is assisting exploited and/or trafficked individuals housed in its shelters.
