A Solomon Islands youth group has warned young people not to sell their voting rights for cash.

Solomon Islands Broadcasting reports the Solomon Islands Youth for Change team says young people must understand their democratic voting right is not a commodity to sell.

It says voting is not a game as some people may think, rather it is dealing with peoples' lives.

Earlier the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission expressed concern some candidates may be paying citizens for their ID cards for voting purposes.

It said people must not buckle to pressure from others offering them money.
