Vanuatu's opposition says the Department of Foreign Affairs owes the Speaker of Parliament Philip Boedoro an explanation and an apology after failing to be at the airport to facilitate his travel to Europe to attend the 27th ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.
The Speaker's Office also confirms the Speaker boarded another flight from Port Vila to Sydney two days later only to find he could not board the British Airways flight to Europe, forcing him to return to Port Vila four days later.
Meanwhile Vanuatu's Embassy in Brussels confirms Member of Parliament Bruno Lengkon went on without the Speaker to deliver the Speaker's address in the Assembly in Strasbourg, France.
Mr Boedoro says he needed to be in Strasbourg to assure the ACP-EU leaders of Vanuatu's commitment to co-host an ACP-EU Joint Meeting in Port Vila at the end of the year.
