The Fiji Higher Education Commission says it is very concerned by allegations that some local education providers are misleading foreign students about what they can provide.
The Fiji Broadcasting Corporation has reported the Immigration Department is investigating at least four higher education institutions for making false promises to students.
The commission's executive chairman, Richard Wah, says such allegations could damage Fiji's reputation internationally.
But he says he needs information that substantiates the reports before the commission can investigate further.
Dr Wah says the commission has a strict accreditation process in place for education providers.
