The PNG Hunters make their much anticipated on-field debut tomorrow in a pre-season friendly against the Northern Pride in Cairns.
Coach Michael Marum has been busy preparing the Hunters team since December, ahead of their first Queensland Cup game next month.
The CEO of the Northern Pride rugby league club, Brock Schaefer, is expecting a physical and emotional performance from the visitors.
"They'll be playing for their country, there's no doubt about that. We also had the privilege this time last year of hosting the Agmark Gurias in Cairns for a trial game. They were the defending champions of the Digicel Cup at the time and they were tearing up as they heard their national anthem played before the game and they came out and gave us a fair walloping to be fair so our guys won't go into it with anything but eyes open and expecting a tough clash. You can't replicate emotion, you can't fake it and this PNG side they'll be playing with a lot of pride, there's no doubt about that."
