Fiji's prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, has restated that savings with the Fiji National Provident Fund are secure.
Fijivillage reports Commodore Bainimarama as saying a lot of figures are being twisted to try to destroy public confidence in the way the Fund is run.
He says some of the leaders from the previous government are back and are seeking political office on the back of blatant lies.
Commodore Bainimarama says this is highly irresponsible and wrong as the truth is that his government and the current board rescued the FNPF from certain bankruptcy.
He says without reforms, it would have gone broke by 2052.
He says the FNPF's financial position is now strong.
