Human Rights Watch has slammed Indonesia's handling of its easternmost province Papua in its latest World Report.
The watchdog says security forces in Indonesia continue to commit abuses with virtual impunity.
It says abuses include excessive and at times lethal use of force against peaceful proponents of independence.
Human Rights Watch says Indonesian women and religious minorities faced heightened discrimination in 2013 from the government's failure to enforce human rights protections.
It called on the government to abolish hundreds of local bylaws dicriminating against women and religious minorities, and release dozens of political prisoners, mostly Papuan and Moluccan activists imprisoned for peaceful dissent.
