A meeting has been held between French Polynesia's ministry of agriculture, rural development and the directorate of health and beekeepers as part of a plan to eradicate the zika virus.
French Polynesia is currently implementing a mosquito control programme to eliminate the zika epidemic after more than 20,000 people were reported to have sought help from the virus.
This meeting was held to provide recommendations to beekeepers on how to protect their activity during the implementation of the vector control programme.
Those in higher density beekeeping have been instructed to carry out treatments as soon as possible in the morning when bees are expected to be in the hives.
