The former attorney general of the Northern Marianas, Edward Buckingham, has summoned a Superior Court judge to testify at his trial next month.

The Saipan Tribune reports that at Mr Buckingham's request, a subpoena ordering Associate Judge Joseph Camacho to appear and testify at the trial on February the 3rd was issued last Thursday.

Mr Buckingham is being tried on 12 criminal charges for allegedly violating election laws, including an allegation that he invited staff from his office to attend a campaign party for Mr Camacho, who was then running for the seat of CNMI delegate to the US House of Representatives.

The Saipan Tribune reports that Mr Camacho has confirmed he will appear as a witness.
