The Suva City Council has confirmed that it will be assisting the Ministry of Health in the eradication of mosquitoes that cause dengue.

The Chief Executive Officer, Bijay Chand, told FBC news that due to the severity of the cases, the council will supply the trucks and fuel that will be spraying the greater Suva area.

Mr Chand says spraying will be carried out in Vatuwaqa and other adjacent areas.

The severity of the outbreak has prompted the Ministry of Health to seek clarification on the new strain of dengue fever being found.
