Tonga's King Tupou VI will today commission a causeway in Ha'apai.

The causeway, half a kilometre long, runs from Foa to Lifuka.

The prime minister Lord Tu'ivakano, the Ha'apai governor, Lord Tu'iha'angana, and Germany's honorary consul to Tonga - Carl Sanft are also attending.

Radio Tonga reports that the more than 2 million US dollars cost for the construction has partly been met by the government of Germany.
