Fiji's attorney general Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is reportedly not making comment at this stage on the closure of a floating tourist attraction near a world-renowned surfing reef in western Viti Levu.

Cloud 9, a bar and restaurant which sit on a twin-hulled pontoon, opened in the middle of the year about one kilometre away from Cloudbreak but closed after a visit from police at the start of this month.

The owner Tony Philp says he has all the necessary permits to operate and is still seeking a meeting with the attorney general to find out what he has done wrong.

But when the Fiji Village website questioned Mr Sayed-Khaiyum over the matter he declined to comment.

In a statement, the government has said the Regulation of Surfing Areas Decree 2010 does not allow for the activities that have been conducted on Cloud 9.
