A visit to Fiji next week by a senior official of the European Commission will be the first such visit since the military coup seven years ago.
The Commission's deputy director of general development co-operation, Marcus Cornaro, will spend four days in Fiji discussing bilateral co-operation and the next European Development Fund.
He will also attend the opening of a Secretariat of the Pacific Community office in Lautoka and the opening of the Sugar Research Institute in the same town.
