Tahiti will meet defending champions Russia in the semi finals of the Beach Soccer World Cup after making history by becoming the first Pacific island nation to reach the final four.

The Tiki Toa beat Argentina 6-1 last night in a tense quarter final.

Scores were locked at 1-1 after the opening two periods before captain Naea Bennett broke the deadlock, and a further three goals put the result beyond doubt late in the game.

The Tiki Toa will be without Raimana Li Fung Kuee and Heimanu Taiarui for their next match, after the pair picked up their second cautions of the tournament.

Spain will take on Brazil in the other semi after advancing past El Salvador and Japan.
