Fiji govt approves recruitment drives for military forces

Reports from Fiji says the government has approved two recruitment drives for the Fiji Military Forces.

Land Force Commander Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga has told FBC the forces are starting to feel the pinch because of the many troops overseas on peacekeeping duties.

About one thousand two hundred personnel are deployed on missions in Iraq, Sinai and the Golan Heights.

FBC reports Colonel Tikoitoga says Fiji's soldiers are in demand because of their reputation.

He says the recruitment drives will take place from the end of the year and are critical to ensure the RFMF has enough soldiers on hand.
