Rugby League Samoa says the country's World Cup preparations will not be affected by a change in coach three months out from their first game.

Matt Parish has replaced Steve Price in charge in of Toa Samoa, after Price opted came to the conclusion he could not fully commit himself to both the St George Ilawarra and Samoa head coaching roles.

Parish is an assistant with the Parramatta Eels and New South Wales State of Origin side.

Rugby League Samoa President Tagaloa Faafouina Su'a says he has their full support.

"We don't expect him to do miracles for the team. We all know that it will be a two-way thing, both the team and the coach, to work together to achieve results but we are certain he will be a big boost and asset to our team counting down to the big event in October this year."

Tagaloa says while Steve Price has stood down as coach he will still be helping the team behind the scenes where possible.
