Fiji's Methodist Church to put emphasis on reconciliation

Fiji's Methodist Church is planning a reconciliation process at the start of its annual conference later this month.

As part of the installation of the new president, Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu, the immediate past president, Reverend Ame Tugaue will be joined by former president, Reverend Josateki Koroi.

In the late 1980's Reverend Koroi's presidency ended prematurely when the church leadership split into two factions.

The general secretary, Reverend Tevita Banivanua says they are trying to bring the factions back together.

Improving relations with other Christian churches and interfaith relations with other religions in Fiji are also part of the long term plan of reconciliation.
