The police in Tonga are treating the death of a 14-year-old girl as a homicide.
The girl was admitted to Vaiola Hospital on Thursday with serious injuries and died at about 11 o'clock this morning.
The police commissioner Grant O'Fee told Matangi Tonga the victim's injuries appeared to be from being struck in some way and that they occurred within a Nuku'alofa household.
He did not release the nature of the homicide inquiry, which is being overseen by the Deputy Police Commissioner 'Unga Fa'aoa, or the relationship between the suspect and the victim.
