A Fijian trust will use Skype to promote traditional Pacific sailing and navigation with people around the world.

The Uto ni Yalo Trust and Pacific Voyagers Network have been invited by Skype to join its Exploring Oceans series, which is led by the grandson of explorer Jacques Cousteau, Fabien Cousteau.

A Uto ni Yalo crew member, Unaisi Waqanivere, will talk on Skype tomorrow about her three-month voyage across the Pacific, which included stops in Auckland and Tahiti.

"We will discuss the future of traditional voyaging in Fiji and hear some stories from our crew members about their journey across the Pacific and also discuss the cultural and conservation aims of the voyage."

Unaisi Waqanivere says she hopes her sailing experience will inspire other people.
