France has appointed a new High Commissioner for French Polynesia.
On recommendation of the interior minister, it has chosen the prefect of the department of Atlantic Pyrenees, Lionel Beffre, for the post in Papeete.
He will replace Jean-Pierre Laflaquiere who will leave at the end of this week after less than a year in the post.
