Fiji was the best Pacific team on day two of 2013 World Youth Campaign in Scotland.
Fiji beat newcomers Namibia in their opening match, taking a valuable two points in their pool which includes Australia and South Africa.
The final score: Fiji 61, Namibia 36.
In other matches, the Jamaicans outshone Samoa in their first game, winning by a comfortable 64 goals to 20.
But it was far from an easy ride.
Samoa put on an excellent performance, putting pressure on the ball and forcing Jamaica to use a long pass that was easily intercepted.
However miscommunication and misjudged catching in the circle meant that easy balls were lost to the Samoans.
And Singapore and Papua New Guinea faced each other on court two yesterday evening in the closest match of the tournament so far, the Singaporeans coming out on top in the end 54 - 39.
Fresh from last month's Asian Youth Championships in Brunei, at which they took bronze, Singapore were a well practiced unit, but a nervy start meant Papua new Guinea lead for most of the first quarter before Singapore hit back to clinch the quarter 14-12.
Papua New Guinea seemed to decelerate during the second period, and Singapore edged ahead to reach the half time break with a sizeable lead of 30 goals to 19.
The second half began with a surge of energy from the Papua New Guineans, who managed to reduce the gap between the teams to six goals at one stage.
