Inter Island Air back in the air after two-week grounding

6:48 am on 27 August 2013

American Samoa's Inter Island Air resumed flights on Friday afternoon after being grounded for two weeks for engine repairs to its Dornier aircraft.

The disruption affected flights to Samoa and to Manu'a.

The resumption of flights has taken pressure off Polynesian Airlines, which was the sole airline flying the route.

Samoa Air, whose flights came to a halt around the same time as Inter Island suspended its flights, is still grounded.

The disruption affected travelers from New Zealand, Australia and Samoa attending the ordination of the new Catholic bishop last week.

Many couldn't get a seat and remain stuck in Apia, while many who did get a seat faced delays and arrived without their luggage.
