American Samoa delegation visit Tonga to discuss land in Kingdom

The American Samoa delegation which visited Tonga to discuss the status of American Samoa's land in the kingdom, also explored trade and commerce opportunities.

The Director of Commerce Lafaele Keniseli said Real Tonga Airlines has expressed interest in flying to Pago Pago and a boat owner is exploring the feasibility of servicing the route between Tonga's closest island groups Vava'u and Niua and American Samoa.

He also met with ministries of the Tongan Government handling trade and industry and the Nukualofa Chamber of Commerce.

Lafaele said while the main reason for their trip to Tonga is to discuss the land that Tonga gave the territory in exchange for land gifted to Tonga in Tafuna.

From Nukualofa, the group is heading to Apia for discussions concerning American Samoa land in Samoa.
