Chilean government extends hand to Fiji

The Chilean government is reportedly keen to assist Fiji in its poverty alleviation and disaster relief efforts.

Fiji Live reports that in a discussion in Suva with Fiji's minister for foreign affairs, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, the ambassador of Chile, Isauro Torres, offered his government's support.

Discussions also covered bilateral co-operation in the tourism and public health sectors.

Ratu Inoke has also invited Chile to attend the Pacific Island Development Forum meeting planned for August.
