A still undetermined number of US civilian employees on Guam are facing job terminations as a result of US Navy plans to implement a reduction in its forces.
The Marianas Variety reports the reduction-in-force plan will come into effect over the next seven months, affecting seven Navy regions, including Guam.
The mass layoffs are a component of the Navy's austerity measures prompted by the federal sequestration that reduced military budgets as well as those of other federal services.
