Tonga's hopes of promotion to the top tier of age grade rugby have been dealt a severe blow after they were beaten 24-6 by Canada in their opening match at the Junior World Rugby Trophy in Chile.
The Kingdom trailled 11-6 at half-time and failed to failed to register a point in the second half.
The winner of the seven-team tournament will earn promotion to the elite Junior World Championship.
