The Northern Marianas government is seeking to extend hotel leases to ensure the long-term stability of the tourism industry.

The acting secretary of the Department of Public Lands, Pete Tenorio, has asked four major hotels whether they are willing to extend their land leases by up to 40 years.

The hotels' leases are due to expire over the next four to 12 years.
