Samoa's sevens rugby team has a new manager and assistant coach ahead of the sevens World Cup in Russia next month.

The Samoa College Old Pupils Association coach, Fata Pito Malifa, will assist Stephen Betham with the coaching duties, with the Manu Samoa team manager, Leota Sami Leota, taking over the management position from Fataalii Moke.

The appointments come after the Samoa Rugby Union last week, in an urgent meeting, recalled Manu Samoa coach Betham to lead the team for the World Cup after a disappointing finish to the IRB World Sevens Series.

The SRU has yet to comment publicly on the future of dumped sevens coach Faamaoni Lalomilo.
