Sport: Waitakere confident of Oceania glory

9:12 am on 18 May 2013

Waitakere United football coach Paul Marshall is confident his team can maintain their edge over local rivals Auckland City in tomorrow's Oceania Champions League final.

The familiar foes have already played six times this season, with Waitakere United winning four of those, including the New Zealand domestic final.

A spot at the lucrative Club World Cup tournament in Morocco is on the line this time and Paul Marshall says their mindset remains the same.

"For me it's business as usual you know -yes there's the monetary side of it but we don't talk too much about that, we're talking about ourselves and we're certainly looking very closely at Auckland City. I've got great belief in this team. These guys have been an absolute pleasure to work with all year and I don't think I've had a better group of senior men players to work with than this group. You know, if we play well, because of some of the reasons I've just mentioned, I think we will do well."

Waitakere United last won the O-League title in 2008, with defending champions Auckland City having won in three of the past four years.
