American Samoa customs intercepts two drug parcels in one day

7:11 am on 1 May 2013

The American Samoa Customs Division has uncovered illegal substances being sent to the territory through the Post Office.

Two separate drug busts happened at the Post Office yesterday and resulted in the arrest of three people.

The three had apparently gone to the Post Office to claim the packages in which the drugs were found.

The first drug bust uncovered a pound of substance that has tested positive for methamphetamine. It's one of the biggest busts of meth made at the Post Office.

KHJ News understands that a woman went to claim the box and later her brother showed up at the Post Office also asking for the same box.

The brother, according to sources, was recently released from jail after serving a drug possession conviction.

The siblings are in police custody while investigations continue.

A little over an hour later, Customs intercepted another parcel that allegedly contained methamphetamine.

The amount was about an ounce and according to one source, the substance was sent like it was regular mail and inside an large mail envelope.
