MSG Eminent Persons Group begins consultations with Fiji

An Eminent Persons Group established by the Melanesian Spearhead Group to review the sub-regional grouping's performance over the past 25 years has begun consultations in Fiji.

The group is chaired by Fiji's Kaliopate Tavola and includes Solomon Islands MP, Manasseh Sogavere, Vanuatu MP Joe Natuman, PNG's Leonard Louma and Roch Wamytan representing the FLNKS of New Caledonia,

The group, tasked with driving and leading the formation of the proposed Melanesian Vision and Plan, today had discussions with Fiji's Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama and members of his government.

Throughout the week in FIji, the group is due to consult with government officials, NGOs and the private sector.

The proposed Melanesian and Vision Plan will be presented to the MSG Leaders Meeting on 20-21 June 2013 in New Caledonia.
