New Zealand will represent Oceania at the Under 17 Football World Cup in the United Arab Emirates after successfully defending their regional title in Luganville on Thursday.

The Young All Whites thrashed Papua New Guinea 4-0 in their final group match, to finish five points clear of New Caledonia, who were upset 3-1 by hosts Vanuatu.

New Zealand coach Darren Bazeley says it is a great feeling to record a perfect five wins and fulfill their objective.

Elsewhere, Fiji thumped the Cook Islands 5-0 to finish in fourth place, an improvement on their previous Under 17 campaign.

New Zealand pair Stuart Holthusen and Monty Patterson shared the Golden Boot award, with Patterson also earning the Golden Ball while goalkeeper Zac Speedy was awarded the Golden Gloves.
