A joint venture between Australian engineering firms Clough and Curtain Brothers has won a US$78 million contract in Papua New Guinea's liquefied natural gas project.

It's the latest in a series of lucrative contracts for Clough Curtain in the Exxon Mobil-led LNG project .

The project operated by Exxon subsidiary Esso Highlands, includes processing facilities, onshore and offshore pipelines and liquefaction facilities, with natural gas production due to begin next year.

Clough Curtain was awarded around 75 million US dollars worth of work on the project last November, after being awarded a $145 million contract in January 2012.

It has been developing core infrastructure for the project, which is concentrated on the Highlands provinces of Hela and Southern Highlands, and spans across several provinces.
