American Samoa governor wants to get rid of red tape

8:13 am on 19 April 2013

The American Samoa Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga has emphasised the need for leaders and the public to unite as one to overcome challenges, while marking the anniversary of American Samoa becoming a United States territory.

In his first Flag Day address as chief executive, Lolo Matalasi Moliga said it is only through one mind and one heart that American Samoa can overcome any challenges ahead.

Lolo says the territory's forefathers exhibited this unity 113 years ago when they entrusted the future under the care of the USA.

He says the achievement of this vision require the support and commitment of the private sector.

"The government is endeavouring to establish workable and meaningful partnerships with the private sector, by making sure that the business environment is favourable and free of red tape."

Lolo Matalasi Moliga says the Flag Day celebration denotes a deep sense of patriotism and pride of being American.
