The United States national immigration reform bill may include provisions aimed at improving the status for long-term foreign workers in the Northern Marianas.
The bill is set to be released today and gives millions of immigrants living illegally in the United States a chance at citizenship.
It's the most ambitious overhaul of the nation's immigration system in three decades.
The Northern Marianas delegate, Gregorio Kilili Sablan, says until he sees the actual bill, there is no telling what is in it, but he says he has asked the United States Senate and House to include the Northern Marianas language in the bill.
Mr Sablan says while he remains hopeful, he is cautiously optimistic that the Northern Marianas would be included in the comprehensive immigration bill.
