Sport: Auckland City maintain Oceania dominance

10:30 am on 8 April 2013

Auckland City have beaten arch-rivals Waitakere United 3-1 to maintain their perfect start to this year's Oceania Champions League football competition.

Adam Dickinson scored a double for the defending champions, with Gustavo Souto putting the result beyond doubt after Fiji international Roy Krishna had pulled a goal back in the second half.

The win served as some revenge for Auckland City, who lost the New Zealand domestic final to Waitakere last month.

They're the only team to take maximum points from their first two matches and lead Group B from Tahitian newcomers Dragon, who ran out 4-1 winners at New Caledonia's Mont-Dore on Friday evening.

Also at the weekend, Vanuatu's Amicale FC drew 0-0 at PNG Champions Hekari United to join Ba atop Group A.
