Sport: Solomon Warriors grab first point

11:22 am on 4 April 2013

Debutants Solomon Warriors have picked up their first points in the Oceania Champions League following yesterday's 2-2 draw against Fijian Champions Ba.

The Warriors were beaten in their opening match against Amicale FC at the weekend and found themselves two goals down inside 20 minutes at Lawson Tama Stadium.

But the home side dug in, with Kidston Billy scoring the club's first ever O-League goal just after the half hour mark before Micah Lea'alafa equalised with a long-range effort deep into injury time to send the home crowd into raptures.

Warriors coach Brendan Crichton was pleased with the determination shown by his side to come back from two goals down but says, like Saturday, he felt they would have won if they'd taken their chances.

The Champions League second round continues on Friday evening with Mont-Dore welcoming Dragon for the francophone derby.
