Fiji's Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, has ordered a review of the way the government approves tertiary scholarships because of the large number of students who applied this year.
FBC reports that close to 2 thousand students applied for scholarships and only 4 hundred were approved.
The Permanent Secretary of the Public Service Commission, Parmesh Chand, says a committee made up of himself, the Permanent Secretary for i-Taukei Affairs, and University Vice Chancellors will look at all aspects of the scholarship programme.
The committee has until April to hand recommendations to the Prime Minister.
