Authorities in American Samoa have issued an arrest warrant for a former government immigration officer wanted for alleged misappropriation.

It is believed she has fled the territory and is in New Zealand.

Samoa News reports Lagitafa Holi worked in the Immigration Office for over ten years, and that she allegedly stole funds from the Immigration Bond account, which holds money put aside by sponsors of immigrants.

She has been charged with one count of embezzlement and one of forgery.

Efforts are now underway to have her extradited from New Zealand.
