Grass roots groups in Cook Islands get money from India

Fifteen Cook Islands grass roots organisations have been given funding by the Government of India.

About 170 thousand US dollars have been approved for distribution to community groups which had been encouraged last year to apply for an India Grant Fund.

Proposals were assessed on a first-in, first-served basis and once the assessments were completed they were forwarded to the Indian Embassy in Fiji for consideration.

The Cook Islands Finance Minister Mark Brown says the Indian government was pleased with how the groups complied with all requirements.
