Sport: Fiji Warriors ready to play after false start

11:34 am on 6 March 2013

Fiji Warriors coach Inoke Male says his players are itching to get on the field in Thursday's Pacific Rugby Cup clash with the Brisbane Academy.

The defending champions were meant to have opened the tournament last Friday against the Junior Waratahs but the match was called off because of poor weather.

Attempts to reschedule the game also failed and Inoke Male hopes the extra training time will pay off.

"We have been given more time to prepare our boys, especially some of the boys who it is their first time overseas. As the defending champions we need to prepare these boys well. This is a development team - the under 23s - that are hoping to play the Reds on Thursday."

The Samoa and Tonga A teams will also be in action against the Sydney Academy and Brumby Runners.
