The Pacific Games Council will travel to Wallis and Futuna this week to check on preparations for the Mini Games being held in September.
The entry deadline for competing nations passed at the weekend, with almost 200 athletes expected to attend from Papua New Guinea and well over 100 each from Fiji and New Caledonia.
The Executive Director of the Pacific Games Council, Andrew Minogue, says he has already received positive reports from weightlifting and athletics officials regarding facilities and will be using his trip this week to check everything else is coming together smoothly.
"And also for me to give a little bit of knowledge back to the organising committee on what the final six months will look like and make sure they're focussing on the right things. Making sure we get a really good handle on team numbers that are coming. We'll look at the technical officials - the refereeing and the judges - making sure that we've got enough in each of the sports. We're going to have a bit of a focus too on putting the anti-doping programme together for the drug testing that will take place during the Games."
Eight sports will be contested at the Wallis and Futuna Games.
