Proposed Fiji Labour party denies registration signatures obtained under fraud

9:17 am on 4 March 2013

The proposed Fiji Labour Party says allegations that registration signatures were obtained under fraud is clearly an orchestrated campaign to discredit the party.

Two men have been charged with impersonating election officers, but police would not confirm if they were affiliated to any political party.

The party's Mahendra Chaudhry, says it is being targeted as a proposed political party because it has taken the regime to court on the validity of the Political Parties Decree.

He says support is overwhelming and the party has not needed to resort to fraud to obtain signatures.

He says it should be noted that the complainants come from one family, and alleges they must have an ulterior motive to make what he calls the false allegations.
