The police in Fiji say they cannot confirm whether two men charged with impersonating election officers are affiliated to any political party.

The men are in custody in the Lautoka corrections facility after appearing in court last week for allegedly posing as election officers in Ba.

A police spokesperson, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri, says at this stage the police cannot confirm whether the men are members of a political party and have not disclosed their names.

He says the men will make their second court appearance on Wednesday.
