The appeal hearing of former Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase will be heard before the Fiji Court of Appeal today.
Qarase was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment in August last year after being he was found guilty of six counts of abuse of office and three counts of discharging his duty with respect to property in which he had a private interest.
Qarase is appealing against his conviction and one year sentence.
Fiji Village reports that in a brief preliminary application, Qarase's lawyer, Tupou Draunidalo said there are 17 grounds for appeal.
She claimed that there was miscarriage of justice and lawyers were confused in the trial.
