Tonga police say they are still to determine just how a man was electrocuted while walking on the footpath near the Royal Tombs in Nuku'alofa, in the middle of the afternoon earlier this week.
Police Commissioner, Grant O'Fee, says a power line was hanging low and it appears the man who died had reached out in a reflex motion to push it out of the way.
Two people with the man tried to rescue him and one of them also received a shock.
Mr O'Fee says they are talking with the power company about this incident and concerns about other low lying wires.
"The electricity infrastructure here is not quite what anyone would like it to be. There are issues with that and some wires which are hanging very low and this has obviously put a spotlight on to that so we are working with the power authorities to: A/ Work through just what happened in this one and what accountabilities there are or aren't, and then hopefully, not that it is our primary role, but hopefully trying to work with them to get some safer infrastructure around it for everybody."
